Regina Trujillo RSS
My name is Regina Trujillo.  I would like to take a moment to introduce my background.  I am in my tenth year of teaching and absolutely love my job. I have a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Although I do not have a teaching degree; I am a Level II Certified Teacher through the State of New Mexico. I was a highly successful salesperson for many years before I started my teaching career. I believe this makes me more knowledgeable about the concepts I am teaching and how they apply in the job world.  My passion is working with kids and helping to prepare them for their future.  Listed below are class expectations and a progressive discipline plan.
Incentives/Rewards
Students will have a chance to earn rewards in recognition of service, effort, or achievement.  They will be able to earn points for doing their homework and getting their planner signed, good behavior, group work, staying focused, following procedures, following classroom rules, staying on task, etc.  We use our planner as a communication tool.  That is why the planner is SO important.  We use it to keep ourselves organized and informed and your child will earn points for doing homework and getting their planner signed by you.  Please make sure your child brings his/her planner with him/her EVERY DAY.  At the end of each week, students will be able to cash in their points for reward coupons of their choosing based on the amount they have earned.
Discipline
Behavior is one of the most important elements of the school day. If
behavior is out of control, then learning is not possible.  The method I use in my classroom is as follows:
If You Chose To Break a Rule
First Time:            Warning (Name on board)
Second Time:         Take away recess (Check mark next to name on board)
Third Time:           You call your parents (Second check mark)
Fourth Time:          Hot slip (Third check mark)

Per school policy the fourth hot slip in a semester may result in a discipline referral to office.  Every day we start a new day with a clean board.  Students who receive warnings or checks will be recording their behavior in a classroom Behavior Log Book.

Various other perks
I ask that you please follow through at home for any unacceptable behaviors that occur during the school day and to offer praise when they do well.  This will help your child be more successful at school. I appreciate your help.
Classroom rules

  2. Respect others, their things, and things that belong to the classroom.
  3. Be responsible for yourself.
